Exhibition Course
Foss Waterway Seaport will host fast, exciting Unlimited Light Hydroplanes at the annual Maritime Fest celebration! The Unlimited Lights will skim across the water to circle a course for four exhibition runs on the west side of Commencement Bay between the head of Tacoma’s Thea Foss Waterway and the TEMCO grain terminal.
The Unlimited Lights are an automotive-powered racing class with slightly smaller (from 20 to 26 feet in length) hulls than the full-size hydroplanes known for their deep-throated, powerful engine noise and extreme speeds on the water. Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association (ULHRA) racing has recently gained tremendous popularity, especially in economy-sensitive households seeking exhilarating, yet affordable, family entertainment.
